Treberfydd House and Garden.I first came across Treberfydd during Crickhowell Art Week and wondered why I’d never come across it before. Not far from the shores of Llangorse Lake at Llangasty it is in an enviable situation.
There are many walks in the gardens and its a nice place to enjoy a cup of tea. The house is only open for a few weeks each year and I hope you think that this would make a nice end of summer visit.
Treberfydd was designed by the Victorian Architect John Loughborough Pearson. The Raikes family have lived here since it was built and so the house has retained many of its original features. Our visit will start with a tour of the house and will allow us to soak up the details of the magnificent fireplaces, tiles, stained glass and some of the Gothic furniture also designed by pearson. meanwhile the gardens were designed by landscape architect William A Nesfield. Working with the architect together they ensured that each room offeres a unique view of the gardens, There is also a walled garden which has been leased to a plant nursery specialising in hardy plants grown in Wales – so you might do some shopping too!
