A visit to the Sidney Nolan Trust, Presteigne, Powys.  www.sidneynolantrust.org

Sidney Nolan was a leading twentieth-century Australian artist. He is perhaps best known for his Ned Kelly paintings. His life story is dramatic, with many twists and turns. He moved to England in the 1950’s and had a home at the Rodd in Presteigne. This became the Sidney Nolan Trust which looks after the estate and has a programme of exhibitions and workshops. A visit here allows one to combine interests in architecture by taking a guided tour of the Jacobean House and surrounding garden and taking in the current exhibitions in the Tithe Barn and seeing some of Nolan’s work.
